My name is Kathy Rau. I have been a LVT (licensed veterinary technician) for over 25 years. I currently work as the Head Technician at Confederate Ridge Animal Hospital and also carry the title of 'puppy coordinator'. This role is to educate our clients on the best ways to raise well rounded dogs. My husband, Mark, is a physical therapist and we have 2 PT clinics in the area called Drayer University. He is also one of the cross country coaches at our local high school. We have 4 children and live on a self proclaimed 'mini-farm'. We have 7 dogs, 1 cat and a gaggle of chickens. We also have Peppermint and Elton, 2 mini donkeys, who think they are dogs. I think it is important to know the breeders you are working with. These days there are so many scams on the internet and we want you to get to know us and feel we are an extended part of your family. Whether you buy from us or another breeder please vet your breeder.

 

As a married couple, our first dog was a golden retriever. She was THE BEST DOG WE EVER HAD (RIP Mandy). However, later in our marriage we were given our 2nd golden retriever (rescued from a puppy mill). Sadly, he was a 'hot mess' (to put it kindly).  He was fearful and full of anxiety at 8 weeks of age. I also started to noticed that many of our golden patients at work were like this. I felt they were being overbred due to popularity and their personalities were changing over time. I realized that one day I wanted to help promote the breed and get them back to their original reputation of being well rounded, family friendly dogs.

Our dogs are a part of our family. They live inside our home and we have the dog hair to prove it!!! They are exposed to our daily living with kids, cats, chickens, donkeys and more! They are all current on their core vaccines and are on year round heartworm/flea prevention. We feed them Purina Focus Large Breed dog food. We do not promote grain free or raw diets. Our dogs are crate trained and we highly recommend it! This is for the safety of your home and more importantly the safety of your dog.

If at any time during the purchasing process we feel your intentions do not meet our standards we will gladly give you a full refund of your deposit.
